About SPACE
We are an alternative provision provider looking to recruit Specialist SEND tutors and mentors with a primary and/or secondary background who can adapt their practice to support children who may have complex needs – this could include (but not limited to) severe learning difficulties, moderate difficulties or emotional school-based avoidance.

About the role
⏳Hours: Self employed/bank (variable hours) – full time/part time. Term time only.
📍 Location: Stanstead Abbotts, with Hertfordshire-wide working so travel will be expected (travel expenses when working away from the office/tutoring space in Stanstead Abbotts will be covered.)
💰 Salary: Hourly rate of £20-£25 depending on experience (mentor)
💰 Salary: Hourly rate of £30-£35 depending on experience (tutor)
📅 Closing date: 15th June 2026 (however we may close this earlier)
Key responsibilities (as a mentor)
- Build confidence & emotional wellbeing
- Support communication, independence & life skills
- Help children manage transitions & challenges
- Provide behaviour & self-regulation support
- Deliver 1:1 or small group support in home, school or community settings
Key responsibilities (as a specialist tutor)
- Deliver targeted tuition for KS1-KS4 learners
- Support children with SEND, SEMH, anxiety & school avoidance
- Adapt learning to meet individuals
- Strengthen core skills & learning confidence
- Flexible delivery in home, school or online
We are looking for:
- Experience supporting SEND children (KS1-KS4)
- Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulty & neurodiversity informed
- SEMH & EBSNA experience an advantage
- Child-centred approach, patient & empathetic
- Enhanced DBS (Update Service)
- Full UK driving license
