We are looking for a proactive, organised and enthusiastic Events Co-ordinator to manage the smooth running of our events and activities programme – from planning and logistics to delivery and evaluation. You will lead on the development and implementation of events for children and young people, as well as for parent carers and professionals, ensuring they are inclusive, engaging and run to a high standard.

This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisation and communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to hit the ground running!

⏳Hours: Up to 25 hours per week

📍 Location: Hybrid – Stanstead Abbotts/remote

💰 Salary: £26,000 pro rata

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan and deliver a varied events and activities programme for children and young people, parent carers and professionals.
  • Manage all logistics for events and activities, including booking venues, sourcing equipment and materials, and coordinating suppliers and third-party partners.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with delivery partners, venues, and other stakeholders.
  • Research and source new partnerships and activities as necessary in line with SPACE’s values and the needs of our audience.
  • Ensure events and activities are appropriately staffed and supported including liaising with bank staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure the ongoing smooth and safe running of all our events and activities.
  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems.
  • Manage our Short Break Local Offer (SBLO) contract, including supporting families with applications and renewals, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Work with our marketing team to ensure our events and activities are well advertised to the right audiences via social media, emails and other relevant channels. 
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of our events, collecting feedback and using it to inform future planning.
  • Represent SPACE positively and professionally in external communications and partnerships.
  • Support wider organisational activities as required such as the planning and delivery of larger-scale conferences and information events.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the charity.

Requirements and skills

Essential:

  • Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A flexible approach to working hours when necessary (some weekend working is likely to be required)
  • Strong IT skills and confidence in learning new software packages and digital tools.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Desirable:

  • A good working knowledge of the SEND field and relevant services operating within Hertfordshire.
  • Understanding of the needs of neurodivergent children and young people, and the importance of accessible, inclusive events.
  • Experience of working with and supporting volunteers.
