Who is Professor Tony Attwood?

Tony is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in Autism Spectrum Disorders since he qualified as a clinical psychologist in England in 1975.  He currently works in his own private practice, and is also adjunct professor at Griffith University, Queensland.  His book Asperger’s Syndrome – A Guide for Parents and Professionals has sold over 500,000 copies and has been translated into 27 languages.  His subsequent book, The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome, published in October 2006 has sold over 300,000 copies and has been translated into 18 languages, and is one of the primary textbooks on Asperger’s syndrome, otherwise known as Autism Spectrum Disorder – Level 1.  He has several subsequent books published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Future Horizons Inc. and Guilford Press on emotion management, relationships and sexuality, and general advice for autistic children and adults.

What are the parking arrangements?

There is ample parking at the venue and this is free of charge. There will be signposting to the best parking area for the conference.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes. There will be signs indicating access information at the conference.

Is there any public transport to the venue?

There is no public transport that goes directly to the hotel. The closest towns are Welwyn Garden City or Hertford and it would be advisable to get a taxi to the venue.

What are the timings for the day?

Registration for the day starts at 8.15am, with prompt start at 9am.

The conference will finish at 4.30pm.

Is seating allocated?

Seating is not allocated and will be on a first come first served basis with guidance from the SPACE Team.

Will the conference be recorded?

The conference will not be recorded.

What happens if I am late?

We would encourage everyone to arrive no later than 8.45am to ensure that you are comfortable and settled before the conference begins. Anyone arriving after the 9am start will have to wait for the mid-morning break before they can be seated, so as to not disturb the speaker and other attendees.

Is there a cloakroom? Is there a charge to use it?

A cloakroom will not be available on the day so please bare this in mind and keep your belongings on your person throughout the day. SPACE or Tewinbury Farm Hotel are not responsible for any loss or theft of attendee’s belongings.

Will food and drinks be served on the day?

All food and drinks will be provided throughout the day.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

No, please do not bring your own food and drinks into the venue as food and drinks will be provided.

How do I let you know about any allergies or special dietary requirements?

You can inform us of allergies and other special dietary requirements at the time of booking through Eventbrite.

Is there an age restriction for the event?

The event is for over 18s only.

Can my baby or young child to the event?

We are not able to allow babies or children at the conference. Only ticket holders (printed or electronic) will be admitted on the day.

Can I bring my dog?

Guide/assistance dogs are allowed with relevant documentation.

When are tickets available?

Tickets will go on sale at 8pm on Sunday, 13th February 2022 via SPACE Hertfordshire Eventbrite page.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Tickets will NOT be available for purchase at the door on the day.

I am no longer able to attend. What is your cancellation policy?

Please be aware that all tickets are non-transferable.

Please contact us at events@spaceherts.org.uk if you are no longer able to attend.

With more than 7 days notice, you will receive a full refund, minus the Eventbrite booking fee.

With less than 7 days notice, all tickets are non-refundable.
