She specialises in children’s neuro-developmental conditions; Developmental Delay, ASD, ADHD, Dyspraxia, genetic conditions such as Down Syndrome; she also has a keen interest and specialises in neurological conditions that are chronic and affect the child’ development-such as Epilepsy.

Her main work involves not only working with children and their carers/parents but also working together with school/nursery, other professionals from health, education and social care in an effort to produce the best outcome for the child and their family.

Sharmi believes that supporting the child and their immediate environment, i.e family and school is the best medicine, this can only be done by raising awareness of several conditions that give rise to Special Educational Needs and Disabilty. She also strongly believes in partnership working with children and young people, parents, other professionals involved.

Sharmi feels she can contribute to the charitable organisation SPACE by bringing her clinical experience to the ‘real world’ of a child who has special educational needs and disability.
