What is the First Steps Course?
For those unfamiliar with First Steps, our course is a 6-week journey designed to empower parents and carers of children aged 0-5 with a diagnosis or on the pathway for a diagnosis of autism. The course runs termly and is facilitated by our SEND Family Support Team, offering a supportive environment where parents and carers can learn skills, share experiences, and build a network of support. The course covers a wide range of topics, including understanding your child’s needs, navigating the education system, and practical strategies for daily life.
The feedback we’ve received since launching First Steps has been overwhelmingly positive and we are deeply proud of the sense of community the course brings to SPACE families.
What Does CPD Accreditation Mean?
CPD accreditation is a significant achievement for First Steps. The CPD Accreditation Service operates nationally, evaluating training programs for their quality and contribution to professional development. Accreditation means that our course meets the high standards set by the CPD service, ensuring that the content, delivery, and support offered is both relevant and effective.
