In Hertfordshire, 'early help' (Families First) has been defined as:

"Taking action to support a child, young person or their family, early in the life of a problem, ideally as soon as it emerges. It can be at any stage in a child’s life from pre-birth to adulthood, and applies to any problem or need that the family cannot deal with or meet on their own."

Hertfordshire Grid For Learning - Educational Psychology Team.

We help schools, settings and families to understand and manage a wide range of developmental issues and special educational needs. We use psychological based approaches to assess and intervene to enhance the learning, emotional health and well being of children and young people aged 0-19 years.

Herts Parent Carer Involvement HPCI

Is the parent Carer forum for Hertfordshire and part of the National network of parent Carer forums. We are an independent parent/Carer led organisation with a network of parent/carers from all over Hertfordshire- our aim is to improve services for families by working alongside those providing services for our children and young people with SEND

Natural Flair

Natural Flair offer a wide range of coaching and training to both corporate and public clients as well as coaching to groups and individuals.

PALMS

PALMS works across the county providing a specialist multi-disciplinary approach to children and young people aged 0-19 who have a global learning disability and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder and their families. PALMS clinicians comprise a ‘virtual team’ delivering a consistent service in a variety of community settings.

PDA Resource

SOS ! SEN

We offer a free, friendly, independent and confidential telephone help-line for parents and others looking for information and advice on Special Educational Needs (SEN).

We concentrate on helping people to find their way through the legal and procedural maze which is so daunting to so many who try to obtain satisfactory provision for a child’s special needs.

Is a small and friendly community based service which has been set up to give young people and adults with a learning disability the opportunity to learn or improve their existing cookery skills and learn about healthy eating in a safe environment.

STEP2

Step2 is an Early Intervention Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service for children and young people in Hertfordshire aged 0-19.

Step2 receives written referrals for direct family/child support from health professionals across Hertfordshire. With a dedicated team of mental health professionals, the service offers a range of support including 1:1 direct interventions and group support.

The Butterfly Room

The Butterfly room supports children with a wide range of complex needs and behavioural difficulties, such as developmental delay, communication needs, panic attacks, anxiety, TICS, challenging behaviour, Autistic Spectrum Disorder as well as working with typically developing children supporting them with any emotional stress.

Youth Connexions

Youth Connexions Hertfordshire - provides youth work projects and programmes, information, advice, guidance, work related learning, outdoor education and support for young people aged 13-19 (to 24 for young people with learning disabilities). For young people leaving care, support is provided to the age of 21.
